The title of this, our first blog post, borrows liberally from a 2006 post by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk "The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me)".
We love that post because of the clarity of vision that it demonstrates, and while we cannot promise to perfectly emulate it we're going to try.
But that is where any similarity, real or attempted, begins and ends.
You see, Tesla Motor's secret master plan made sense for an intensely capital intensive activity such as car manufacturing: begin by catering to the high-end of the market, re-investing profits in order to be able to produce a progressively more affordable electric vehicle, and in so doing catalyse a transformation in transportation.
We believe that a transformation is already underway in finance, with a growing ecosystem of startup companies that are leveraging internet-economics to meaningfully improve customer alternatives. There is near-zero incremental cost to us serving each additional customer and as a result we intend to make an essential, quality and affordable financial dataset abundantly available to our customers from day one.
